While this request is not quite on a par with the famous poster of Lord Kitchener appealing for recruits for the armed services in 1914, there is an urgent need for the Finance Team to fill two positions within the next few weeks.
As most of you will know, Stan and Alice Strilchuk are moving to Courtenay in the Spring and we, therefore, need to recruit volunteers to take over the tasks that Stan has handled so efficiently and faithfully for the past 11+ years. (We are delighted that Judith Clark has taken over management of all donations so that is a significant piece that has already found a new owner!).
Our primary need is for someone to take over payroll management. Prior knowledge of payroll processes would be helpful but is not essential. The key components are liaison with the Ministry & Personnel Committee and our payroll service provider, reviewing and balancing CRA remittances, and providing semi-monthly input to our bookkeeper.
The second position would manage our cash flow to ensure adequate funds to meet expenses and payroll costs and arrange to transfer funds as necessary. Again, prior experience is not mandatory.
Accuracy and attention to detail are desirable assets as is comfort in working with financial details and being able to work to externally driven deadlines. These are vital positions to ensure the smooth running of our operations. Having some overlap time with Stan would be very beneficial.
Do you believe you have the trust of the congregation and are the special person to fill either of these positions? If so, please get in touch with me or with Stan (sstrilchuk@shaw.ca) and we’ll be happy to provide additional details.
