Hello, Lynn Valley United Community: 
 
Our tumultuous fiscal ‘ first year ever of operating the church in a pandemic’ closes at the end of June 2021.  With the end of the fiscal year, there are a few church leadership roles to be voted on at the June 27th Annual General Meeting of the congregation.   Shauna Grinke is completing her maximum term on the Board of Governance, and Walter Wright is completing his maximum term as Trustee.  Both of those roles will need to be filled for the next fiscal year. 
 
This will be a very important year for church governance, with the continuation or abatement of the pandemic creating opportunities to reflect on how we continue to navigate in uncertain times as a community of faith, and having a new minister, Rev. Franklyn James, join LVUC.  The six current members on the Board – Wendy Harris, Neil Fancourt, Victoria Mah, Len Grinke, Leslie Hemmings, and Joe Catlin- have expressed their desire to continue to serve in this important role.  Len, Victoria, and Leslie will be entering the second year of their two year term;  Wendy and Neil are completing their first two-year term, and have expressed interest to put their name forward for re-election at the AGM; Joe was appointed by the Board to cover the remainder of this fiscal year, covering the role that Judith Clark vacated.  Joe has expressed interest in having his name stand for election at the AGM.   The Board feels it would be important for continuity for all of these dedicated volunteers to continue, as it would be advantageous for a team with experience working together to support Franklyn in his new role.  At the AGM, we would like to add one new member to the Board and are asking for individuals interested in joining the board to reach out to our nominating committee, Myrna Pearce and Shauna Grinke.   
 
Similarly, the Trustees – Roger Eastwood, Myrna Pearce, and Jill Sacre – will be continuing their work for the next fiscal.  They need one additional committee member to join them to replace the role vacated by Walter.  If you would like to put your name forward for a Trustee role, reach out to Myrna or Shauna. 
  
Myrna and Shauna can provide information about what you could expect, should you be interested in one of these leadership roles.   Also remember, all are invited to attend our monthly leadership circle (the next one is Saturday, May 15th)  where we will speak about these roles and will have a circle discussion about this important upcoming year.
