This week our theme is "A Place at the Table" We will share communion and sing one of my favourite hymns by Shirley Erena Murray's hymn of the same name. God calls us to share "a shelter, a space, a safe place for growing" Jesus models how this works by sitting and feasting at many tables that made space for him in his ministry!
How we prepare our tables might just speak to the way we practice love in the world. In Phillippians, Paul exhorts the church in Phillipi: "This is my prayer: that your love might become even more and more rich with knowledge and all kinds of insight." How can our tables, both real and metaphorical in the "church-being-hospitable" sense, become more and more rich?
Our scriptures this week are Philippians 1:3-11 and Baruch 5: 1-5
